Fun spots to take the kids
Traveling with children can be tiring, especially if you have the stress of having no idea where you are going. If you go shopping a good tip is to go to the upper floors for merry-go-rounds and other small rides. Odakyu Halc department store and Isetan both have play areas on their roofs. Here is a listing of some of the tourists spots in Tokyo that are made especially with children in mind.
Tokyo Disneyland Park
Here you can experience many of Disney's famous rides, like Space Mountain and the Pirates of the Caribbean. The park is broken up into seven different themes, like World Bazaar, Aventureland, Westernland, Critter Country, and Mickyís Toon Town. Besides the rides, you can see shows and parades. Some seasonal events are also held each year. This theme park is the first Disney opened outside of the United States and has been operating since 1983.
National Children's Castle
The castle is a building devoted to developing healthy, happy, and energetic children, and was conceived to commemorate the International Year of the Child. With special rooms for music, fine arts, a gym, an indoor playground and a restaurant, your child will be busy for hours. Aoyama Round Theatre also puts on plays for children that are distinctively Japanese. The castle is closed Mondays and tickets cost 400 yen for children and 500 yen for adults.
Ueno Zoo
This zoo is famous for its Giant Pandas. The animals are housed in old-fashioned cages. Open from 9:30 to 4:00 and closed on Mondays.
